The Chilterns 3 Peaks Challenge is back for its 4th year and is set to be a fantastic day out, offering a 5, 9 or 18 mile route along the beautiful Chilterns Ridgeway, taking in Whiteleaf Cross, Coombe Hill and Ivinghoe Beacon.
Last year more than 700 walkers and hundreds of dogs walked the chalk in our third annual Chilterns 3 Peaks Challenge raising a staggering £60,000.
We will be keeping the staggered start that has proven popular over the last few years and the 18 mile route option as this has been fantastically well received with the majority of walkers rising to the challenge walking between and up all three peaks!
Around 150 walkers opted for the 5 mile route, which took in Whitleaf Cross followed by Coombe Hill.
They then enjoyed a BBQ lunch in Wendover before catching the Arriva bus back to their cars parked in Princes Risborough.
Others caught an Arriva bus out to Tring Station, where they could re-join the route and climb Ivinghoe Beacon to complete the 9 mile trek.

After completing their challenge all walkers received a medal and warm welcome at the end of their day with soothing foot scrubs, a chocolate bar, bottle of water and could even purchase a hot drink from Coffee Stop before boarding the bus back to Princes Risborough.
The event was a huge success and a great day out, some of our walkers were even helped on their way with personal words of encouragement from the Prime Minister, David Cameron and his family who were out for a Sunday walk with friends, they said "It was a chance meeting, in a rather unlikely location – the Ridgeway path through the Chilterns! He was very supportive if our efforts to raise money for IRGH and it gave an added dimension to what was a wonderful occasion."

Everyone was encouraged to raise £150 sponsorship if they could as this covers the cost of a day’s specialist nursing care.
Thank you to all our enthusiastic walkers, our dedicated volunteers, marshals, to Arrive Buses for donating the use of 10 double deckers and to the drivers for giving up their Sundays to support the event!
So are you ready to take up the 2012 Challenge to Walk the Chalk with IRGH, can you better your walking time from last year or will you try one of the longer routes?
Chilterns 3 Peaks Challenge, Sunday 16th September be there and don’t miss out on a fantastic day out!
