The Iain Rennie Hospice at Home (IRHH) is excited to announce Arriva Buses coming on board as the Chilterns 3 Peaks Challenge "official transport".
Arriva are delighted to be supporting this brand new event and have generously given the charity the use of 4 double-decker buses and 4 fantastic drivers who are giving up their Sunday to man the buses. They will be an extremely important part of the day transporting the walkers between the various points of the challenge on a continuous shuttle service.
The 5 or 9 mile route, taking place at 9am on Sunday 20th September 2009, takes in the famous Ridgeway Path, including three of the most well-known peaks in the Chiltern Hills - Whiteleaf Cross, Coombe Hill and Ivinghoe Beacon.
All walkers will complete the beautiful scenic five mile route from Princes Risborough to Wendover via Whiteleaf Cross, through the grounds of Chequers, up to the monument at Coombe Hill, and then down into Wendover where you can stop for lunch. You will then have the option of free transport from Arriva buses to Tring for the next stage, four mile walk to Ivinghoe Beacon, or back to the start in Princes Risborough. (Arriva buses will also provide transport from Ivinghoe Beacon).
Community Fundraiser Kerri Coote said; "We are delighted to have Arriva working with us on this brand new and exciting event, they have been so generous with their time and support. We hope to attract 1,000 people (with their dogs) from the community to take up the challenge and walk the chalk"
The £60,000 event target will be vital for the Iain Rennie Hospice at Home which costs more than £3 million a year to run, and with only 12% of funding coming from the Government they rely heavily on events like the Chilterns 3 Peaks Challenge to keep their nurses on the road.
So get on your walking boots, come together, and get into training for this great new event and be one of the first to 'Walk the Chalk' for Iain Rennie!
Entry to the event is £15 and includes a Chilterns 3 Peaks Challenge t-shirt, all transport on the day and refreshments along the route. To register click here, email c3peaks@irhh.org or phone 01442 890222.
