Former BBC Weather man Bill Giles announces his support of the Iain Rennie Hospice at Home Chilterns 3 Peaks Challenge.
Bill Giles of BBC weather fame has signed up to be a marshal at the NEW IRHH Chilterns 3 Peaks Challenge!
After supporting the IRHH Goodnight Walk earlier in the year and having such a great night he jumped at the chance to help at the Chilterns 3 Peaks Challenge.
Bill said, "The atmosphere on the night was amazing and the support from all the marshals and volunteers was so important and helped to make the night a great success." He also predicts, "The Chilterns 3 Peaks Challenge event will be a fantastic day but I have no idea what the weather will be like!" Bill promises to give a more accurate forecast nearer the event day on 20th September but for now he is out and about drumming up support for this brand new and exciting event.
Bill has been a huge supporter of the Iain Rennie Hospice of Home following the care their nurses gave his mother in law 5 years ago. Bill is also a member of the High Wycombe and Amersham Fundraising Group who raise thousands of pounds for the charity by organising various events throughout the year.
The Chilterns 3 Peaks Challenge will see Walkers and Runners have a choice of either a 5 or 9 mile route along the famous Ridgeway path. The 5 mile walk takes in 2 of the peaks, Whiteleaf Cross and Coombe Hill and the 9 mile route has Ivinghoe Beacon added onto the end.
IRHH is looking for 1000 people to take part in the first ever Chilterns 3 Peaks Challenge and has set an ambitious fundraising target of £60,000. So get involved, register and help raise much needed funds for the Iain Rennie Hospice at Home.
The money raised will be vital for the Iain Rennie Hospice at Home which costs more than £3.2 million a year to run, and with only 12% of funding coming from the Government they rely heavily on events like the Chilterns 3 Peaks Challenge to keep their nurses on the road.
If you or anyone you know would like to enter or join Bill in volunteering to help out on the day as a marshal and cheer along all the walkers and runners please call the charity on 01442 890222 or email c3peaks@irhh.org.
