Head of hospice nurses steps up to the challenge

Director of Nursing at Iain Rennie Grove House Hospice Care (IRGH), Sue Varvel, will be racking up the miles this summer as she gets in training for two walking challenges organised by the hospice charity.

Sue, who has been a nurse with Iain Rennie Hospice at Home for 23 years, has signed up to the charity's Chilterns Three Peaks Challenge, which takes place on Sunday 18th September. She says: "This is a fantastic event - there's something for all the family with a treasure hunt on the 5-mile walk, a BBQ in Wendover for all walkers, and free transport between the peaks so you can take your pick from the 5, 9 or 18-mile route. Even your pet dog can join in!

"For me it's a great chance to meet our dedicated supporters and enjoy the beautiful countryside where I'm lucky to live and work. There's an added benefit for me this year, as I need to get in serious shape for a Himalayan trek I'm taking on for IRGH in October. The Chilterns Three Peaks will be a good warm-up for me and a test of my fitness!"
